Motherly Heart You Should Share
When it comes to the fact that you are 38 and don't feel as if you have accomplished much, try to consider all of the lives you have touched, and the lives which have touched you, both in positive ways. Who you are as an individual is an accomplishment. The fact that you have made it this far and managed to keep your sanity is an accomplishment. The way that you strive to find the truth and heal is an accomplishment because many people give up. Your life has not been a waste, like so many people tell me about myself, I will tell you about yourself..........don't underestimate and/or minimize yourself as an individual because of the stereotypes of what society deems as accomplished lifestyles. It's all about comparrisons.....don't compare. Try, as I try, to be more accepting of yourself, and try as I try, to learn to accept and love yourself. You are a beautiful person.
As far as your comment about wanting children of your own......I do feel sympathy for you. Have you considered doing volunteer work in a school? I did volunteer work several times as a teachers aid, and I found it to be a wonderful experience. It was in my sons elementary school (he's in college now - my only child). Instead of focusing on your loss over having no children of your own, maybe try to focus on how you could become part of something that may help change the lives of children just by sharing the great person you are with those children. People consider that we each raise our own children, but if you look at it the more realistic way, we all raise the children........teachers, volunteers, museum tour guides, etc. They are sponges for information. The more lives we touch......the better the world would be.
Take part in the lives of other peoples children by doing something like volunteer work in an elementary school near you. You feel worthless as a person? Wait until you look into the eyes of a child that you just made a difference for. The light shines brightly, and it warms you with it's glow. Just because you do not have children, doesn't make you any less a mother at heart. Many women who have children are not very motherly. Share the motherly side of yourself, and then you will see just how important you really are.
It is my bday today, makes me sad, am 38 years old and feel like havent accomplished much. Have been in therapy trying to deal with trauma that happened 10 years ago, feel like have wasted so many years of my life. especially since i so much wanted to have kids of my own and now that doesnt seem to be possible. Makes me sad, very sad and alone.
