If the tape is identical to the book, then I guess it wouldn't matter. You wouldn't be able to assimilate watching a movie of something though with the book, as they are typically vastly different, and that would be a movie club, not a book club.

I have to admit, that because it looks like the tiger's wife might win, that we are reading a book like that.

I hope I will be able to read it without getting paranoid and hypervigilant. :cautious:

I think she is referring to books on CD, they are often word for word and sometimes read by the author themselves. The CD's don't contain any visuals and are unrelated to movies. We rely heavily on the library so it is one of our options for being able to get the title. We both would much rather read the actual book of course and that's what we are aiming for. We are not referring to movie versions of the books because of the obvious differences therein. These CD's were made specifically for those with learning disabilities or eyesight problems and should be no different than the original book versions. But I understand what you mean, that a book club is a book club not a CD or movie club. Either way you decide it's okay, if no we will cross that option off our lists.

As said, if its identical, then I see no issue myself. I already understand why those mediums exist, ie. for the blind, visually impaired, learning difficulties, etc.

Like you say, if it is a person reading the book onto audio, then it is the book.

Hah, tie breaker for the 2nd book. This is trying to be difficult I see.
Easy actually, as "The Hunger Games" is the first in a series of three, which going by the poll for whether series should be separated into their own threads, unique from individual book club, it seems the second book is "The Alchemist" and another thread will get created for the reading of the series.
