If he is hugging you and telling you he loves you to me those are 'words of encouragement'. Men have different 'love languages' and different ways of communicating that may not be exactly what we feel we need. Nevertheless they are still trying to encourage you or show you their love in the 'language' that they speak and in a way it is comfortable for them to express it. I don't think it means they love you any less. They are just different and communicate in different ways.

However, given his past history I think pre-marital counseling would be a good idea.

Thank you catlover26, counseling is a must. He told me that he has a hard time finding the right words to say and expresses his love through actions. Since my last post we have discussed it and he said he will do whatever we need to do to make a great life together. I told him that now our success depends on communication. I am very happy that we are back together. He is able to tell me he loves me daily and is very affectionate. He prays with me and plans special things for us to do. He talks of the future and spending our lives together. So far, there has not been another proposal of marriage. I guess what I question is why are we not engaged like we were before. That would be the ultimate action for me to know that his love is true. We are exclusive and he says he wants to grow old with me. Isnt he supposed to propose again? Maybe Iam wanting to rush when I need to slow down and just be grateful that we are together.

(reoccurring nightmares) Still grateful we are back together, but beginning to feel uneasy of what might happen in the future. I have been having reoccurring nightmares that he will push me away again. things are going great but that does not stop my fear
