I'm taking Celexa for depression and it's not doing a bit of good. I asked the Dr. if she could up the mg and she said she couldn't because it wouldn't help me because I have ptsd. What the heck? Well, what do I do? It's not helping me.

How long have you been on Celexa? Sometimes they take time to work. I would give it a month.

If that does not work then I would talk to her about something else.

I was hoping that the celexa would help with my being depressed and feeling down. I have been on he celexa for over 10 years.

Yeah your doctor should try something else. The drugs can work like that for a few years and then stop. It all depends on the person.

I'm on celexa and it is'nt doing anything for me. I will talk about being put on something else. Good luck getting your meds worked out.

I've been taking celexa since December. I am now on 30mg and I've had some rough times on it, especially around that~ time of the month (PMS and celexa don't seem to mix well at all for me), but generally, it has helped a ton more than not. I was prescribed it directly for PTSD and the depression and anxiety that comes along with it. I'm still trying to see if I should move up to 40mg.

I think since you've been taking it so long, you're becoming immune to it. Maybe you should talk to your doctor about exploring other options. Wishing the best for you.

I'm starting on the generic version this evening. It'll be a while before I know if it works for me, but it's pretty cool that one pill can help with both anxiety and depression. Did a bit of reading, the side effects don't seem all that bad for most people, but what's this part about food not tasting right? It doesn't sound like a common thing, but it's got me nervous.

I have been on 40 mgs/night for almost nine months. It was helping both until recently when I have gone backwards a bit. The anxiety has gotten back to nearly where it was when I started and I have had suicidal ideation lately which is also something that had been helped before. Seems it is time for a change for me as well and believe me when I say how discouraging it is. I was convinced I would take the drugs, go to therapy and fix myself. I discovered it is not that easy.

Celexa has helped me for two years now. I am up to 40 mg. The worst effect it has on me is low libido. I also notice if I skip it, my skin is more sensitive--in a good way. I have been pretty depressed for a while now, but also have had things to be depressed about. I have wondered if I need to change my meds. I am going to try therapy first.

Anyway, all that to say you should talk to your doctor and ask if it is time to try something else. I hope you feel better.

I have been taking citalopram for 5 months now and have been at 40mg stage for about 8 weeks now. Whilst it helps somewhat with anxiety I'm still here 5 months later with really dark periods of depression that affect me greatly. I to have taken steps back recently like kimba, I started becoming agitated as felt uneasy with how low was feeling. Been given temporary buspirone to try help, declined diazapem as that chills me but makes mood worse. Ideally would like something work alongside celexa to help mood and apathy which cripples me but at moment I keep being told citalopram been best me and keep saying yeah anxiety wise but not depression but feel I'm banging head on brick wall. Gp's are reluctant to prescribe more than one antidepressant.
