I thought... This might be a silly way to think... but I thought Chris Cornell, one of my fave musicians, the lead singer of Soundgarden, was a "survivor" of the 80's/90's grunge era.
Not so. Made it to 52, killed himself. Or OD'd. I am very sad. It makes me think of all the musicians, so many people from many of my favorite bands, absolutely decimated by drug use/suicide OD etc. Painful painful things.
He was part of Temple of the Dog which created one of the best rock albums of all time (imho, and had a whole new band, Audioslave, been successful, touring, shows, all the way up till now.
There are so many little "clever" headlines I can think up from all the music he wrote and produced, so I feel like an idiot for that, too, as this is not the time. I can't help myself from the wordplay and it's just not helpful to have these words swirling around in my mind.
Very sad with this. Trying to stay away from the media but it's so hard. All the "news", disastrous now.
But mainly I thought Chris Cornell literally lived through a deadly era, and he was someone who was able to go on with his work, and have continued success in music... goddamnit all.
