Does anyone else have trouble falling asleep even when it's 2 am because you have plentiful energy? There are numerable days where fatigue is present and by evening, I am ready to sprint across town! I take melatonin every night, but it is nothing melatonin can remedy. This is something else, altogether. I love exercise and find an evening walk helps get out some of the restless energy. But still, I'm not going to burst into a run in the middle of the night...especially when I have class the following day. I started having issues with insomnia when I was 14 (age trauma was initiated) and have since been struggling with it (now 20). Anyone else have a wacky system?

I can go days without sleep, (I don't want to, it drives me batty). I don't have the urge to get up in sprint though, the compounding tiredness has me just dragging around reading a book most nights. Oh how I wish my body was able to nap during the day. The loss of sleep is so detrimental to our bodies. I always feel the worst for people that go through this because I know exactly what they mean.
Have you tried intense exercise in the late afternoons to try to physically tire your body out? (In my head I was just thinking, okay she is tiring her body out but might still be awake, but I am not going to delete that advice because I think it has merit). Maybe if you work up a routine of intense exercise, a good wind-down and then quiet activity before bed you could get yourself into a good sleeping routine.

I like working out at night. Where I live there are 24hr gyms (also night jobs). I've utilized both extensively.

Before I had kids I simply set my schedule to work as I pleased. After kids I had to do the getting up in the morning, thing... So that's when I really started using night-gyms. 2-4 hours at the gym, hot shower, dry my hair, and Zzzzzzzz.

I do more intensive exercise in the morning actually. What I found was, if I do something more " exhausting" in the evening, I am so much more awake, energized. It depends on the individual, surely. Though I should be tired, I am still not. Thank you for the advice though! I too find I cannot take naps...and I wish I could! However, my T doesn't not recommend them as they could screw up my circadian rhythm even more. I wish you the best of luck as you continue this fight! One day (and night) at a time.
