News Count Me As Grateful For The Changes Coming In Us Health Care

Yes, people are confused, and it's largely due to the efforts of Republicans and the corporations deliberately sabotaging it. Shame on them!.

People are confused because the HHS did a piss poor job informing and/or educating them ahead of the October 1st deadline. They are doing an end run around the public... you need to register to see what's in it.

The GOP cut the funding for the awareness and education campaign. Several states have actually criminalized having non-partisan health educators enter health departments to educate people about the affordable care act.

Last night's drunken antics on the house floor are an insult to us all.

The disinformation campaign has noting to do with the Congressional Budget Office's numbers, and everything to do with the GOP.

The Republicans cheered as they voted to make those too ill or poor to get healthcare wait another whole year.

Cheered. I cannot understand any human being who would be so cruel. This is why I know I am on the side of social justice.

The GOP will fail. The Affordable Healthcare Act will help most of us. I'm in the one group that will see all my premiums increase, most likely. I'm happy to pay more and get less so no new parent in America has to worry about healthcare for their baby.

Providing healthcare ruins the economy? Huh. So, Australia, Canada, our friends across the pond are all destroyed?

Can you please post your alternative plan for all those without healthcare? I'd be happy to read it.

Here's the link for the full text of the law. It's been fully available since the act was first introduced so I don't understand what you mean by "you have to register first before you can see it." http://www.hhs.gov/healthcare/rights/law/index.html

Oct. 1 just around the corner. This is going to get even more interesting very soon! I have so many questions, none of which will be answered to my satisfaction until I see what is unveiled. Still very skeptical and hate that I am being forced to participate. Next thing ya know they will take away my right to bear arms........:wtf:

Obviously you either don't know what a libertarian or you were too busy bloviating to remember. I am a libertarian and a fiscal and social conservative. “Libertarianism is self-government. It combines the best of both worlds: The left leg of self-government is tolerance of others; the right leg is responsible economic behavior. The combination of both legs leads to social harmony and material abundance.” - Marshall Fritz (1943-2008), Founder of the Advocates for Self-Government and of the Alliance for the Separation of School and State

I think that life, each life, has a series of choices and consequences. I do not personally believe in powerlessness. I believe that the private sector health insurance could be improved but I do not believe that my government should adopt this undertaking. Reform? Certainly. Federalize... no way. It is fiscally irresponsible and a gross over-reach of government.

CBO 2013 Long Term Budget Outlook.png

For God sakes Bloom, read the CBO 2013 outlook. Australia, Canada, and the UK weren't stupid enough to not only fund two wars on a credit card, but have China bankroll the government. Really, you can emote, all you like but it doesn't change the facts.

If you pay particular attention to the graph on page 1. If you are too intimidated by the big blue area (Federal Debt Held by the Public)... perhaps you will notice that something is seriously wrong with the two lines across the bottom. You know, the one where Federal Spending consistently exceeds Federal Revenues? For the ENTIRE period of the examination by independent economists.... 2013 through 2038.

Read it and weep. Deficit spending through 2038 is a bad deal for EVERYBODY. Not just those with medical insurance issues. You ready to deal with that?

Yeah so, economics and fiscal responsibility is boring. It is so much more popular to be a warm and fuzzy "humanitarian" to be generous with money we don't frigging have, eh?

Pay special attention to the brief period when the little white line (Federal Revenues) briefly get close but do not meet the yellow ling (Federal Spending) - 2014-2026. That means deficit spending as far as the eye can see. You think we can afford another entitlement program? I don't.

You think that short term increase in revenues is an accident? Hell no it isn't, it's this president's and his Democratic crony capitalists "signature legislation"... and apparently a gift that keeps on giving, budget crisis after crisis well into my 78th year of age. Thank you progressives (sarcasm intended). Short sighted power grab that jeopardizes us all. Appreciate it and hope that you all will wake up and realize that this will affect each and every American man-woman-child for decades to come.

If you want to dispute the CBO Long Term Outlook Bloom, I wait with anticipation for your proposals as well.

The fundamental difference, between me and some of you... is that I do not personally elevate my individual needs over my national identity. I was not born in a nanny state, nor do I want to see one in my lifetime Uncle Sugar Daddy mentality, the erosion of our nation's financial security, and the corrosive rise of artificial "rights" (the entitlement mentality of the generally low information voter) are combining to form a historic threat to America.

Yeah, I don't know why I considered that you to be *one of those*. You are clearly one of those.
I'm assuming you're older then 40 as your world view is one recognizable as that of a dying breed.

Being mean gets you nowhere Heidi... it just means you don't have the ability to form a cohesive refutation of the matter at hand.

“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”
John Adams

Heidi, If you think you deserve Obamacare and my tax dollars why would you rather tell me (one of the 53% who actually pay taxes) that I'm a dying breed than put forth a legitimate counterpoint? Why, pray tell, do you feel that in additon to my family, our elderly parents, and my own responsibilities, do you think I need add providing for you? Life is choices and I don't see why I should be compelled by my government to pay for yours.

I guess it's too much to assume that you looked at the graph as well. Long term deficit spending above revenues suits you too? Incredible. Hey Heidi, if I am indeed a dying breed, take another look at that CBO page one graph and you all can have it with my blessing. Hopefully I won't live that long.
