@ Sheila Barrera... Hi Sheila, that's cool. Is your dog certified to go in public places such as schools and stores? I'm trying to get a dog that can go anywhere with me to hekp manage my symptoms. Does the book have info on certifying the dog?

I have a japanese chin named Belle, and a tabby cat called Loki. They are our kids and somehow find ways to get in trouble at times. We love them.

The little furball in my avatar is my kitten Finnick. :) He's about five months old now and he really is such a sunshine joy in my life. If I'm ever upset he comes right up to cuddle and purr. I don't know how I got on before him, really!

My dog is a mix. She was around when I went through my traumatic experience. She too experienced trauma since my ex was an abuser. And now I live with my parents and at times they want me to give her up being that I'm broke and maybe there are some other people who can make a better home for her. But there is no way I can part with her until she passes. She actually knows when I'm stressed and comes nudging her lil head for me to pet her, for example when I'm crying from being overwhelmed. It's so weird but amazing how dogs have that ability. I've even thought about getting a dog trained to be a service dog, but I cannot give up my lil friend, who was, at a time, my only friend. I think of pets as family. She didn't give up on me and I won't give up on her until I absolutely have to.

Yeah, I was told that, too. I guess we have to manage our symptoms because dogs have such strong intuitions of our feelings. We have to feel good so they are happy.

My dogs are my livelihood. I have three , four until I had to say goodbye to my old girl last week. I am very dependent on my dogs company and I rely on them to keep me feeling needed. I have one who I take everywhere with me and I find myself avoiding places and people that aren't dog friendly. My family says I have isolated myself and dogs can't make you happy but I don't agree and I trust my dogs. I find myself fixating on pampering and spoiling them and when in public I notice an escape by being able to focus on every move my dogs are making instead of my surroundings.

Today at the grocery store I started getting foggy and didn't notice Kira slip her collar (I usually have a harness on her). I turned around halfway down an isle and there she was, right at my heel, me walking along dragging her leash and empty collar!

I noticed when she alerted by poking me in the leg with her nose. A couple in the aisle saw and told me what an amazing dog she is, that she never left my side.;)

Very cool, I spoke with my case worker oday and she said they're probably going to approve a service dog with no problems. I'm pretty excited and already fell in love with one of the dogs. Been visiting him every week since I found him :)
