I have dropped facebook. If I keep up with the news I am not functional because there is just too much pain.

You got that right! And as to Facebook, I am just using it for email now and trying to for the most part not read my newsfeed.

I tend to go weeks without any media, no radio, magazines or television. I didn't even realise that Australia had a new Prime Minister until I went into work.

I'm an absolute news junkie, but only for stuff that actually matters. No interest in celebrity gossip or sport.

My main focus just now is watching the slowly unfolding collapse of the world's financial system and wondering just how bad it'll actually get when the whole thing finally goes down.

Yes, I agree. I think they pre-elect our presidents here in the USA.

I don't watch T.V., but I do log onto CNN, BBC, and the NY Times websites a couple times a day to check the news. I don't read the controversial subjects very often except to get an idea what everybody else is all exited about. I usually read the Tech, Science, Medical, topics and maybe something else if it catches my eye (usually of an educational value).

As for presidential elections.... I'll only say one thing so I don't get started on a rant. The electoral college voting system is FAR outdated. The election SHOULD be on popular vote - EVERY VOTE IS COUNTED and tallied. The winner is the one with the most votes cast BY THE PEOPLE, not someone who doesn't even have to follow the popular vote of the people who they have been appointed to represent.

I am turn off by the media as

There is unfairness towards your fellow man

Manipulation of people in TV shows

People giving themselves wages rises when so many are out of work

We never get the whole story either only the sensationalism the news will give the audience

Talk radio shows can belittle people

All media does is makes me angry :mad:​

I do watch some TV shows and movies but I have to be careful of what I watch, only classic music on radio or my own music, no magazines waste of money, and rarely the newspaper as too much sad or bad in it. No nightly news or current affairs either.

I try not to, I find them some what triggering. If I can avoid, I do.

I follow current events and occasionally have to put myself in time out. I do though pick and choose the topics I am most interested in pursuing and read widely accordingly. I like to be well read on a subject before I form an opinion.
