Do You Think Old Threads Should Be Locked?

When EMDR was first being used to treat complex trauma, it had devastating results which led to many people being far worse retraumatised than treated.
I feel like this is a very important point. The thing I don't quite understand (and I am in the lock camp) is how locking will allow negative experiences to be clarified in an old post. Would it not be best to be able to go back to the EMDR posting 2 or 3 years later and refer to documentation, experiences etc that warn others of new experiences?

hat is exactly one of the issues. When EMDR was first being used to treat complex trauma, it had devastating results which led to many people being far worse retraumatised than treated. Those discussions are outdated now, as EMDR has evolved to treat complex trauma very effectively today. That is just one example. PTSD is a pretty stagnant thing, though opinions certainly change, and some facets have also changed / evolved.
Isn't that an argument in favour of leaving the thread open? So someone can comment on it and point out that ideas are now outdated?
