Does Anyone Feel Attacked When They Receive A Grammar Correction?

you have only ever received a new member notification and one grammar one.
I've definitely received 2 grammar ones as well as the new member notification (which I believe is the one that I wasn't sure of the reason). Maybe one wasn't sent as a warning-type message and thus doesn't come up? Either way, my point was that they had all happened relatively close to one another, shortly after returning after a month away, and I think that is why they bothered me so much. I had never received a single one before I took that break.

I haven't received a grammar one but I have received others and I look at it and see what the situation is, it is a good way of getting tuition directly in the Forum's rules. I can see the direct application.

I try hard not to get notifications and to be as clear as possible.

I do find those notifications helpful. Sometimes I think I would like to write back and say thank you but then I worry that I might be clogging up the moderator's accounts.

No, it is a good reminder for me.

Sometimes I get caught up in the moment and write how I speak or can rush things. It does make it so much easier to read if it is set out correctly. I see it as a kick up the bum rather than an attack.

I do get worried that I might get band for it though.

Best wishes
Saffy :)

A member would have to run up a lot of grammar errors over a very short time to be banned.

Any points accumulated for basic grammar errors run after 1 week. Any ban applied, for basic grammar rule violation is a temporary posting ban, so you can still read in the forum during that time, and any such ban is lifted after a week.

I have only seen a couple of members get such a ban - it is very rare, and unlikely to happen if you try your best to follow the rules, and ask questions / ask for help of you are struggling.

I know I've said this before, but the grammar rules are only in place for the benefit of everyone. If you write a post, you presumably want people to read it and reply. If your post is difficult to follow, has no full stops, is full of typo's, has lots of text speak that people don't understand, has only one enormous paragraph etc, etc, then people won't bother to read it. If people don't read, then they certainly don't reply. The rules are in place for your benefit. Some people say that they want to freely post their thoughts, without having to think about grammar. But if no one reads it, what's the point of writing it on a forum?

The notifications are to help you, not to punish you. All the notifications contain links so you can read and learn how this forum works. But there does have to be a limit, because staff can't spend hour upon hour editing posts. It is your responsibility to follow forum rules, and make your posts easy to read by following basic grammar rules.

Stop taking a reminder of forum rules as a personal attack - that is so not the case. All anyone wants (staff, members, visitors) is a forum that is easily accessible and easy to read (on all devices), no matter where in the world you live.

Well, I've thought of it this way.

Many of us have a good background in grammar and spelling, some of us even have masters!

But the only person here who knows how grammar affects the PTSD brain, is Anthony, so despite having all of those qualifications, they are completely rendered useless by the PTSD!

Yes I feel as if its personal but I know it isn't but when you get one your like they are pointing out my spelling mistake, to be honest its embarrassing!
