Less have heard of a dissasociation spectrum. It has a name: schizotypy
Nope.

In neither the ICD or DSM is disassociation purely in the schizo. It can be and when referring to schizoid disorders, not only sure, but the level and type of disassociation is part of what defines the schizotype (schizophrenic phenotype, originally, now a much broader range from cluster A on down) involved.

But PTSD is in an entirely different rubric than schizoid disorders / it’s not schizotypy when referring to disassociation in PTSD, DID, Autism Spectrum, ADHD, or any of the other myriad (a couple hundred) disorders that contain disassociation.

Squares and rectangles. All schizotypy may be disassociation, but not all disassociation is schizotypy.

Friday I don’t know why you are writing nope. It’s name is very confusing and the american associations and the europeans don’t have equal definitions for the same term. We all seem to agree that it has nothing to do with dsm-v or cluster A. Nor does it have that much to do with schizophrenia. Schizotypy describes the degree to which our daydreams go to psychosis. Iow, it describes a dial not a switch. Since I have it and have talked about it to death with psychiatrists, I have to disagree with your definition that it does not refer all forms of disassociation. With that said, there is no consensus on this term and it has always lead to more debate than worth getting into imo. I am not comorbid with any cluster a symptoms nor do i need to be to be schizotypy. Perhaps off-topics but I suggests reading the wikipedia description and the history of psychiatry,in general. Psychosis, as an experience and as an extreme form of disassociation is thought to produce new personalities similar to pre and post ptsd. This is something I have also experienced personally.

I have found a source that I hope might help the op even if there is quite a lot of technical jargon.

And Friday, I have learned something from our disagreement. The last decade, researchers have contested whether schizotypy and dissociative states could be used interchangeably. They cannot. The reason being that schizotypy includes a lot more possible symptoms which are found in schizotypal personality disorder. The dissociative trait that is mostly found in schizotypy is depersonalization yet all dissociative states are acceptable possibilities. It gets all very theoretical. There is also something called healthy schizotypy so go figure. Anyway not useful. We are born as we are. Not everything is sickness and doing the work, a lot can be healed.

Which is exactly what I said.

Disassociation can be a part of schizotypy, but schizotypy is not a part of all dissociation. Squares & rectangles. All squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares.

Which is why I said “Nope.”

Because, no, they cannot be used interchangeably. The disassociation spectrum is one thing, the schizotypy spectrum is another thing.

If the spectrum someone is dealing with is Daydreams > Delusions > Psychosis? That’s not PTSD / is beyond the scope of PTSD.

PTSD is dealing with Disassociation > Depersonalisation Derealisation Flashbacks

... which so brings us back to Sunshine partner's problem, that it doesn't sound like a psych first thing at all, given it was not his self concept, as in dissociative disorders, nor his sense of time, as in trauma dissociative spectrum, nor his telling of reality itself and reality concept changed, as in schizo spectrums dissociation...

But the whole basics both intact and profoundly disrupted, suggesting organic, and the call its psych can totally be made... By docs. After they rule out neuro, infections, and the whole gd complicated mess.
