General Does Your Sufferer Sometimes Make His Life Complicated?

@scout86 - I can see how it came across that way but I think its more of an attempt to test whether this particular issue is common with PTSD or not. One of the hardest things as a supporter is knowing whether a particular behaviour is related to PTSD, or life experience (eg: military training, past relationships) or is some other personality driven issue.

I did not mean to hurt you @scout.

One of the things that makes supporting a man with PTSD very difficult for me is feeling different from other people.
I am always happy when I see that I am not alone and that my husband is not odd but that he is just experiencing the signs of PTSD.

This makes it sound like I am happy he has PTSD and this is not the case.
It is just... there are some insensitive people in our lives and they sort of mock some of the things he does and then I feel bad and think "Well, maybe my husband is just odd", you know?
When it comes to other symptoms he actually suffers from that too. He is afraid people will think he is odd.

You didn't hurt me, don't worry.

There aren't many people who know I have PTSD. Most people probably just think I'm odd. LOL I just get frustrated with the few who DO know, when they act like they're thinking, "ok, I get that you have PTSD, but could you just quit having weird reactions to stuff?" Because, although I'm working on it, I'll probably never be truly 'normal' and I can't figure out how to get that point across.

When it comes right down to it, your husband IS different from most people. That didn't have to be good or bad, just true. And you are different too, because yo love him anyway. Most people wouldn't. That makes you special in a very cool way. Because it's not always easy, but you do it anyway.
