I admit I am not a big Hillary fan, but I absolutely fear Trump. He is hot headed, evasive, deflects, attacks those who dont agree with him,…. Too tired to name it all. But I assure you, if he gets in, we will be at war in no time. He was in my city last week, and showed up at the Longhorne steak house for dinner which went on FB within minutes. He seems to hate everyone. I had to quit watching, even if it means watching Sponge Bob.
Do I understand correctly, he named Mike Pence and then wanted to change his choice after announcing? I just dont know what people see in him, must be his keen sense of fashion and hair. I fear for our country.

Well, the reports are that he wanted to change his pick. Which doesn't surprise me because he picked someone who is ideologically opposed to most everything has said. It's believed he wanted Christie, but Ivanka (who is the real head of his campgan) wanted Pence.

Trump had months to figure this out.Trump changes his stance on almost everything anyhow, so yeah, he likely changed his mind on this too and really does regret picking Pence.

I think he also used all of it to max out the news coverage and attention for him more than anything else. He's a drama king. He played up his lack of confidence in his choice on TV interviews the very night of the announcement.

I've talked to so many Trump supporters. What they see in him is what most people fear: he's a strongman. He consistently promises one thing: he will take control, all the control. This is attractive to Trump supporters, and is what most people fear about him.

Pence is a really strange and alarming pick. I know I keep saying this, but the more I read about Pence, the more I'm concerned about him. He's the most extreme VP choice ever. He's so far right, most Republicans don't like him. Pence is extreme in his beliefs.

Extreme right leaders + nationalism + white supremacy is what lead to the Nazi's.

So. That's where we are at. :(

Some happy news: Gary Johnson's numbers continue to rise. Even if Johnson doesn't win, this is still a good thing. It is reflecting a string pull away from statist type of leaders like Trump. Libertarianism is the opposite of statism - and Trump is a statist through and through. Johnson's numbers rising mean that Americans are waking up and realizing statism is a bad idea. The more that libertarian ideas become increasingly popular, the less popular Trump, and even more his ideas, will be and the less damage they can do.

The co-author/ghostwriter of Trump's book, "Art of the Deal" has come out to say:

“I put lipstick on a pig,” Schwartz told the magazine. “I feel a deep sense of remorse that I contributed to presenting Trump in a way that brought him wider attention and made him more appealing than he is.”

He added, “I genuinely believe that if Trump wins and gets the nuclear codes there is an excellent possibility it will lead to the end of civilization.”

Not exactly a glowing endorsement.

p.s. @hodge - I can't stop giggling about that Colbert video!

I don't know if someone really said this or not, but I swear I heard someone on MSNBC over the weekend reference someone from the Clinton campaign saying that if Trump gets elected he will use the military against his political critics. It just sounds like such an extreme accusation. If anyone has seen any supporting documentation of this alleged assertion, can they please post a link?

P.S. @Justmehere, me, too. I love Colbert :-)

I'm listening on CSPAN the process to adopt the rules of how the nomination vote will happen at the convention.

This is a huge moment. This is the last time the delegates can lawfully stop Trump from being nominated. This effort is not likely to deny Trump the nomination, and everyone knows that. This effort was still important. It was lawful and followed the rules.

The RNC just pulled a very underhanded move to block a effort to stop Trump. I can't type enough at this moment to explain it, I expected the RNC to shaft the non-Trump delegates at every step, but it is painful to watch it happen.

People have worked so hard to be heard.

All they are asking for is a roll call vote on the rules, not a voice vote. That's it. Not vote by screaming, but a vote by paper. That's it.

They didn't even get that.

They did the vote twice by screaming. Idiots.

The podium is now empty amoung the chaos. The chair of the convention has vacated the stage. The chair abandoned his post and there is no rule for this. This is uncharted territory at any party convention.

The rules for a convention is a huge matter. No one knows for sure what is happening right now.

The GOP is dead and buried and this is now officially the party of Trump.

Welcome everyone to ruling without following the rules.
