News Donald Trump's Popularity To Date

Putin would be delighted to have Trump for president. He may have smiled because he wouldn't have to try to destroy us, we would do it ourselves.

In the news regarding other consequences of Trump's rise to rule over the GOP, David Duke announced his campaign to run for US Senate in Louisiana today. He said, "I am overjoyed to see Donald Trump and most Americans embrace most of the issues I've championed for years."

When Trump is popular, Trump-like figures think they are going to win power too.

(I almost posted the video about David Duke, but I refuse to propagate that man's voice or image. It can be easily found on Google or CNN.)

I live in Southern California and our governor recently signed and passed legislation that forces pistol owners to turn in all of their pistols next year. Should be interesting to see how that goes down.

I wonder if this applies to ex military as well or the police as well.

Time to watch Demolition Man again.

I will have to check out the video.

A few points of happy news:

"People are saying that Colorado set the gold standard for principles!". - Congressman Steve King of Iowa

Woo hoooo! Go Colorado!

News from Kendal Unrah as posted on FB: an Austrialian news crew followed her around the convention and will be releasing a documentary of the process she went through as a GOP delegate from Colorado. I can't wait to see that video.

The Colorado delegation sign was signed by the delegates from Colorado and is going to the Smithsonian! History in the making!

THESE and all the other brave souls from all the 11 other states who stood up against Trump and stood for a fair roll call vote will be well remembered by history. Yay!

Edited to add:

And then there is this letter of resignation by a 30 year party man: Link Removed
He explains that there is no point in being a "good Nazi."

Trump's presidential campaign after the adviser called for Hillary Clinton's execution.
The context of the article you posted states she should be put up against the wall for treason. While I do not necessarily agree with him, he is not threatening her, but stating she is guilty of treason, and the penalty for treason, at least during a time of war, is death.

Again I do not agree with his statement about putting her up against a wall, but I do want it to be clear he is not actually threatening her.

Now on topic, but change of subject. Several of you have had negative comments about Trump's statement about his daughter, but no one has said anything about the several women who have accused Bill Clinton of rape, and Hilary seemingly to overlook it.

It will ever happen. There is far too must case law at the federal level against this kind of action, for the Supreme court to strike it down, if it makes it that far.

I don't know about California, but there are many states that if their governor tried this, he / she would be out of a job.

I agree with you Russ on this one for sure. I just did a search starting with the David Duke video and wandered through Black Lives Matter and then on to an interesting one about a ex black panther and a few other black intellectuals and I was really educated more.

I am learning so much because of this thread motivating me to search online and I do believe that with so many people having access to computers and lap tops and I Pads and phones there is so much available information out there and I am shocked and stunned at some of the things I have been learning and I think that buisiness as usual may not play out this time, too soon to tell, but I have been listening to all kinds of people of color and learning so much.

I've noticed that people that want Trump in office are focused 100% on issues that bother them within the U.S.
I disagree with this statement, and a lot of what was written in this post. I am a Trump supporter by default. The candidate I prefer did not make the cut, and I will not under any circumstance vote for Hilary.

Having said that. I am deeply concerned for a lot of things outside the US border. I am concerned that many of the people in Africa do not have clean potable water to drink.

I am concern about the heinous treatment of women in very strict Muslim countries. I am concerned for children who do not have enough food, or medicine. There are many, many things I am concerned with outside the US.

However this election is for the American President, so how the election effects America, and Americans should be the center of the debate.
I am in favor of free trade, but I am also in favor of free trade. Several years ago Rich Devos, of Amway ran for the Governor of Michigan. His democratic opponent criticized him because he built a factory in China to manufacture goods for sale there. He explained that if you want to sell American goods in China, they must be produced in China. Is this fair? I think we need a President who can negotiate a trade deal that is fair to the US.

And yes, Trump said he will bring back good jobs, because manufacturing jobs are good jobs.

Regarding your statement regarding socialism. I had a teacher at my school who was from Cuba. He warned us that the things that happened in Cuba that lead to that country becoming socialist / communist were happening here, and that was forty years ago. So what are we seeing today? A admitted socialist ran a very strong campaign against Hilary, on a very socialist platform.

Regarding the ban on people traveling here from countries that are dangerous. I am sorry but this is a perfectly logical response to a dangerous situation. We must get a handle on this situation to protect innocent lives. It is not a matter of discrimination, it is a matter of protecting life.

Regarding Putin, have you seen the absolute look of distain and total lack of respect he shows Obama?

One last thing, then a question: Your comment about the confederate flag. I grew up in the deep south, and I know what that flag really represents. It represents the men who fought and died to protect their homes from invaders. The vast majority of confederate soldiers did not care one way or another about slavery. They did not own slaves. They cared about their homes, and their families.

And as for your comments about "rednecks" I am not a redneck, but I do know a lot of them. The majority of them are good decent people who will give you the shirt off their back. They will share a meal with you, even if they do not have enough to eat for themselves. I have seen them show respect to all people, regardless of color or religion. And please tell me, where is derogatory name calling like this showing tolerance toward them?
Now here is my question: Given the fact that Hilary has been proven to be extremely reckless with confidential documents, she has been proven to be a serial liar again, and again, how can your possibly trust her to be President?

One of the things I find most difficult is deciding who to believe. There is a lot of information out there and much of it is designed to persuade, not inform. But it's good to research!

I don't know that I'd have chosen to stay married to Bill Clinton. I question why Hillary chose to, but I have no idea what she based that decision on. The rape allegations concern me, but that's something the legal system should deal with and it was him that was accused, not her. Before anyone talks about lining someone up against a wall and shooting them, at least in this country, there needs to be charges brought and a trial. Talk of summary execution isn't funny, especially not in the current climate.

I didn't appreciate Trump's comment about his daughter, but I took it as crude, not evil.

Something I really struggle to understand is the truly hateful rhetoric that keeps cropping up. It seems like it should be possible to disagree on ideas without resorting to personal attacks.

In my own case, I know Trump bothers me because he reminds me of several malevolent narcissists I've had to deal with. That might be based in reality, it might not. If he comes up with some concrete plans, it might make a difference.

I'd give a lot to figure out a way we could wrestle control away from the 2 major parties because I think they are more of the problem than the solution.

I completely agree with this. We can all disagree, but disagreeing does not have to mean being hateful. It use to be a time in our congress that people from both sides would strongly disagree with one another in the house, and be good friends outside of the office.

Everything I have heard about Trump from people who know him well, family and friends, all talk about how he is a really good, decent man. He has done a lot of good for a lot of people, but he does it quietly so he does not draw attention to himself.
The media is very bias, and are decidedly very liberal in their bias, so they will betray Trump a an evil person, to push their own agenda.
One thing I heard him say that I found pretty incredible. He was asked about being the commander and chief, and having to make the decision to send our military into harms way.
He stated and I paraphrase. It is a very difficult decision to make because you have to consider all the lives that will be lost. One our side, and their side.

I like it that he considers the lives of the people we would have to go into action against.
