I just want to say something about weddings in case it helps.
When you are ready I think it helps to remember you are getting married not weddinged. For similar reasons of family complications and other stuff my husband and I ditched plans for a ‘proper wedding’ and got married very quietly with two witnesses in a civil ceremony. We had lived together already afterall, it was legal confirmation of something we already felt about putting each other before other relationships in our lives ( family etc).
What ever you do is right for you, but making that commitment and marriage doesn’t mean having a ‘wedding’ with high expectation, stress etc ?
