Hello everyone,
Does anyone else feel fatigue after a vivid nightmares? Last night I had a disturbing dream and when I woke up I felt like I had 30 minutes of sleep when I got 7+ hours of sleep. Why does this happen

For sure. It's part of the 'Why bother sleeping?' thing I get into during insomnia & nightmare jags. I'm not afraid to sleep, I just stop seeing the point to it when I wake up more tired than when I went to sleep. So I stay up for 3 or 4 days until I do sleep; deep dark and dreamless for 4 or 5 hours, or sure more nightmares, but at least it's knocked the sharp edges off the whole sleep dep thing. Breaking that cycle is pretty durn important to me.

Constantly. Has to do with the disruption of the REM cycle. Basically, if you wake up DURING the nightmare, it disrupts REM sleep and you feel tired because of the brain waves involved in that cycle.

agree, when i wake i feel like im dead. i know you dont get good sleep when having bad dreams. now they have a drug called Prazosin that works in 50 % of people. i have it but it makes me feel strange, and i can hardly sleep. hey control nightmares by not sleeping. anyway i tried it for a few days and not for me.
