Thanks, folks. Something I have dealt with for years now is folks thinking that because I don't look "sick" that there is "nothing" wrong with me. It is something that all folks with invisable illnesses have to deal with. There are many such illnesses, Lupis is just one. My friend has it. She walks around with a little effort, but no one knows all that she suffers unless she tells them. She's on 17 medicines, she's on Social Security Disability, she has so many doctors treating her I cannnot keep track of all their names and what each one does for her! I wonder if even she can keep track of them all.
And then there are the copays... who can afford it all!?! She works part-time just to pay all the copays, I think, because that is all she seems to be able to spend her money on.
My situation is little different, but I refuse to even see some of the specialists that they want to send me to. Allergist? NO WAY! I know I cannot afford that. So I suffered with what feels like a sinus infection all winter, only to be told that it is probably allergies. I told the Dr. yesterday flat out that I was NOT going to see any allergist. She smiled a rather indulgent smile. I think she understood when I said I really could not afford such a doctor. She didn't argue at least. So she told me to rinse my nose out with a netti pot each morning...
