It is being hotly debated and protested in the UK. At present there has been weeks of protesting at Balcombe. The council there admitted giving them a licence even though they new nothing about Fracking.
It has be debated about the environmental effects as well as the affects on water supply and communities.
I for one am not convinced that it is safe at all and have read published articles which disclose that their final report on the safety and effects ect will not even be in untill 2015.
I think this is disgraceful and they have deceived people into believing it is safe and it will save you money on your energy bills. I fear the reality is different and the more I hear about the horror stories of contamination and community downfall in areas that Frack the more I think it is not safe at all. I also think Cameron has a vested interest and that a lot will be exported anyway. If it is privatised the companies will charge what they want and make huge profits.
If anyone has any local or personal stories regarding fracking in their area I would love to read it. Or any other evidence that it is unsound.
More needs to be done to use the resources we have in a better way and work to eliminate waste. We are too reliant on it but it has come a time for people to start thinking how reliant are we really? do we really need straightners, office lights on all night, lights on like vegas, high energy light bulbs in the house. . It is believed that fracking here will only give us about 70 years of fuel, then what? and too what cost?
Thanks for reading. :)
best wishes
