So I emailed my dentist asking to meet with her and talk about the procedure, and she responded with,
"The majority of the time I use only one medication.
Midazolam AKA Versed
I sometimes use a second medication to help induce a little drowsiness
Diphenhydramine
I sometimes use Fentanyl or hydromorphone, to help alleviate discomfort or help calm some patients. Any questions please call."
I got this e-mail over a month ago and didn't respond because I got triggered by thinking about it. I felt like she was being short with me and didn't want to waste the time meeting with me (I'm guessing this wasn't the case, but that's how it felt when I read it). I've researched the drugs, and still don't feel totally safe about it. Midazolam is supposed to have anti anxiety properties, but I'm still worried. I guess I've just been procrastinating and my wisdom teeth are getting worse, I know I need to have the procedure soon before they f*ck up my mouth but honestly I just don't want to deal with it. Not getting my wisdom teeth out would mean higher risk of gum disease, crooked teeth, and a high likelihood of infection (they've already gotten infected once from me procrastinating about this) so I know I NEED to get them out I just don't like the idea of being given a bunch of sedatives . . . I don't know what to do ):
