Since 2003, hard evidence has been gathered from Universities around the world which seem to be connecting the dots that a sixth sense for danger is possible.

Washington University researchers in St. Louis identified the area of the brain called, the anterior cingulate cortex, that monitors environmental cues, the possible consequences and helps to adjust our behavior to avoid dangerous situations.

More interesting is the findings of Dr. Cosimo Urgesi from the University of Udine in Italy, a lead researcher studying neuroimaging of brain injuries, reporting a network of activity within the brain connecting the frontal, parietal, and temporal cortex with spiritual experiences.

Also, the University of Missouri researchers described spirituality as a complicated phenomenon where many areas in the brain are liable for the type of spiritual experiences we have. Scientists have also discovered and identified areas of the brain that, if damaged, will also lead to increase spirituality.

And, I have a few documented reports about dreams being real, as part of ESP is based on the evolutionary theory of life and death, to sense danger of a predator... makes sense to me... plenty of two-legged land sharks out there. No one is safe from inhumanity.

I always find your post interesting. As I am undiagnosed I will say I am highly sensitive. I was born with the gift.

I was not treated as a freak, maybe the only good thing that came out of childhood. I also believe most are capable of learning to use the sixth sense.

It is very dangerous however in the wrong hands. Ahh the fine line of humanity and inhumanity will always be out there.

I do not recommend anyone running out and testing the water without having a therapist on board. Our minds are capable of believing anything if we try hard enough to convince it, even when the results are dangerous.

The mind is a powerful tool, use it wisely and only for good of mankind! I am curios of what your study is looking for. :) Whitney

Wouldn't it be fun to be a test subject in the research! I think most fear the concept of the possibility. Keep on posting, if there is something behind the PTSD it might lessen the fears of some.

There was a time I worried about being burned at the stake. Then my Pastor took me aside as he had noticed I had something. Doing a bible study he would say open to... I would be within a page. He was checking my bible for ribbons, indexes something to explain the months of observing. Lutheran not a wild sect of the philosophy. I also hear my phone before it rings.

I am certain some would say I am nuts too!

Dr. Peter Fenwick, a neuro-psychiatrist and senior lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College, London, U.K. stated in his NDE findings that a number of experiments, supported the theory of a human “sixth sense.”

Fenwick has also suggested the human mind may very well exist outside the body as an invisible magnetic field, stating if the mind existed outside the body just might help to explain the amount of scientific evidence gathered indicating genuine psychic abilities.

Wow, stumbled across this thread and thought why not have a squiz. I've read most of the posts and would like to add my story.

I'm not a wordsmith and I have limited education, so please bare with me and my Aussie way of writing ... hope it makes sense.

From the time I was very young (it is now thought that my PTSD has arisen from events as early as I was 6). I've had many experiences where I've accurately dreamt the outcome of an event, even when I was previously unaware of the name of the participants. I've also had premonitions where something was about to happen.

Those around me would laugh as I would put a name to my 'sixth sense'. No I did not call it ESP, I called it ASP ... my name is Al - Al's Sensory Perception.

I won't go into specifics however very few were negative, fact is most were positive experiences.

Now that I am on the path to healing, or at the least my PTSD has been diagnosed, I've had no premonitions, which is bewildering. I use to enjoy being able to regularly 'see the future' or part there of and wonder if it'll ever return.

Note- I have also ceased using cannabis recently after decades of use ... wonder if this may have something to do with opening up my subconscious or suppressing it ????

Maybe, there is no need for early warnings? It happens, but not like it use to for me as well - though, when serious change s coming - I may get that weird feeling... sometimes - I get nervous like an animal, pacing, then later - something does happen -not all bad- and not necessarily - to me. Pot does open the mind, for most.

This is a very interesting thread. I would like to learn more about this. I had a near death experience and afterwards I felt that I had developed a sixth sense and started to rely on it heavily, to the point where now I don't even distinguish it from my cognitive abilities.

@Linda, your Fenwick might be on to something. Most think I am way out there. But I have been using the simple technique of putting thoughts out to the universe for years. I also use mirror protection.

I must google this guy. Sounds fascinating. Thanks for the idea! Whitney

This is all I hope to accomplish, just to inform so others can come to own conclusions:)
