New Here
Well hi. I'm 23, my boyfriend and I have been together for 9 years this sep, we have a 9 month old son and a daughter due in October. We live together in a mobile home that my mom owns, and we have 3 cats.
I go to college, he stays home with our son. I'm going to go into dental hygiene.
I've got my own issues with depression and social anxiety, but I'm here because my boyfriend has some serious ptsd and I want to learn how to better support him through it.
So, hello :) looking forward to learning what you all have to teach, thank you.

Well hi. I'm 23, my boyfriend and I have been together for 9 years this sep, we have a 9 month old so...
Hi!!!
My name is Myndi! I am no professional, but my husband is a combat veteran and has served in 3 tours. Some things that I have learned:

1. The V.A. made things worse
2. Anti-depressants made him more depressed. (buspar for anxiety only as needed)
3. Got him a pit bull puppy named Leo. In which we are training for therapy. This dog has changed my husbands life!!
4. Hard alcohol is a BIG no. Makes him emotional, vulnerable, and all his terrors come to the surface.
5. Keep HIS mind BUSY. Small honey do lists. Easy things, but enough to make him feel needed.
6. DO NOT PUSH, this could be dangerous. Let him come to you. He WILL.
7. I too have anxiety, when I panic, I leave for an "errand" or shoot over to the neighbors, or walk the dog. Him seeing me in that state makes him feel helpless and worthless.
8. Have someone YOU can vent to that won't EVER tell your husband you think he's crazy blah blah.
9. I keep everything on a schedule. It has changed my son's life (who is from a previous relationship) as well as changing his.
10. DO NOT NAG! Just say, hey when you get a minute could you help?

Just my learning over the years.....
Myndi <3
