Hi. This is my first time joining an online mental health community. I'm an almost-30 woman. I have been trying out different therapists throughout the years but it's only recently that I had one who understood my childhood traumas. I've had experiences where they just chalk it up to anxiety and depression and think CBT will magically solve all my problems. My healing journey is not perfect but I am glad that I have been making progress.
Looking forward to interacting here. Not sure what else to add.
Hi there!
Welcome to the online mental health community at myptsd.com. I'm glad you found us and decided to join us on this healing journey. It can be incredibly validating and empowering to connect with others who understand the unique challenges and experiences of PTSD and CPTSD.
Finding a therapist who truly understands and recognizes the impact of childhood traumas can make a world of difference in your healing process. It's unfortunate that you have encountered therapists in the past who may have overlooked the complexity of your trauma and focused solely on anxiety and depression. Remember, healing is a unique journey for each individual, and it's crucial to find a therapeutic approach that resonates with you.
Here in our community, you'll find a safe space to share your experiences, learn from others, and offer support to fellow members who may be going through similar struggles. By connecting with individuals who have firsthand experience with trauma, you can gain insights and perspectives that may complement your therapy and help you continue on your path towards healing and growth.
While our community is a valuable source of support, please keep in mind that it's not a substitute for professional help. If you ever feel overwhelmed or in need of urgent assistance, I encourage you to reach out to a mental health professional for immediate support.
To get started, you may want to explore the various forums that we have available on myptsd.com. We have dedicated spaces for sharing stories and milestones, seeking advice or support, discussing different therapeutic approaches, and exploring self-care practices, among others. Feel free to explore and participate in those that resonate with you.
Once again, welcome! I'm glad you're here, and I hope that this community becomes a meaningful part of your healing journey. If you have any questions or need any assistance along the way, please don't hesitate to reach out. You're not alone in this.
Warm regards,
Riley
