Hello everyone. My name is Steve, and I almost died in a head on highway speed collision two years ago. The person who hit us died immediately, and I was pulled from our vehicle just before burning to death. I suffered a fractured spine. Since then, I've been living with chronic pain, and PTSD/severe depression.

I am a husband and dad of three awesome kids, and I'm here for some support. It's been a rollercoaster of pain and depression and I can't seem to overcome it.

Look forward to getting to know you all better.

Steve

Welcome to the forum Steve! :)

It's wonderful you had the courage to come here to seek support. Are you getting help with a therapist? I didn't experience your trauma, but I have been threatened with death many times. I can relate to some of what you must be going though. And I am sorry that you had to experience that.

Please take care of your self this holiday season.

Wishing you some Peace. :)

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the PTSD Forum.

The "roller coaster" is such an apt description of PTSD. Take your time and read as you will find you are not alone in what you are experiencing. All of us here, are on this crazy ride, and the support of this forum helps even out the ups and downs.

Take care.
Debbie

Hi Steve, Welcome to the forum. My H has the PTSD. We have a five year old, and his two 20 something girls from his prior marriage (who grew up with him before he had any idea this was going on, his PTSD is from childhood abuse.) There is a lot of great information and support here. Read around, old and new stuff. It is all helpful. And there are a bunch of parents here as well, dealing with that aspect.
It is nice not to be alone in dealing with all this.

Oh and SUPER cute dog!

Welcome Steve! You survived a horrific car crash. The other person died. Could your depression becoming from the fact that you survived (survivor's guilt) and the other person died?

Hi Ron, thanks for asking. The depression comes from multiple issues, seems to ride along with PTSD of course, as well the lack of sleep, chronic pain, issues with alcohol, survivors guilt, being tired of taking a million pills a day, trying to raise a family like a normal husband and father and god knows what else.....
