Hello everyone,
My name is Icarus, and I am in a relationship with a man who recently was diagnosed with PTSD. We last saw each other on Christmas, and now he has moved to his newest duty station. He'll go for weeks without responding to me. I try not to burden him with texts, preferring to write him old-fashioned letters once a week. I am so grateful that this site exists, and I want to thank you all for allowing me to join.

Welcome, I'm new too but already feel so much support and comfort here knowing I am not alone. My guy has been pretty consistent for the last 5 months or so and has vanished the the last 2 weeks. I sent one message of support letting him know I 'get it' and understand and that I'm here when he's ready. Nothing yet but I know he'll come back. I miss him terribly, but I just carry in as normal in my everyday life. Hang in there....

Thank you so much for responding. I begin to doubt everything when I don't hear from him. On Valentine's Day, I was a little down all day and just went to bed early. Woke up to go to the bathroom around 1:30, and he had sent me two texts at 11:40, so he met the deadline ! Lol Made my day and the joy lasted for weeks. Look forward to talking to you again, and I hope you hear from your guy soon!!

Welcome to the forum. It's always nice to see supporters. Part of having ptsd is the urge we get to retreat a bit so please don't let him feel like he's alone. I can see from your posts that you don't but this is just a heads up. PTSD causes some people to retreat or stay quiet.
