How Do You Think Trauma Affects Your Career?

I have felt so inadequate that to work at my level of expertise has been impossible. I took jobs that were below my abilities, not believing that I was capable of doing what I was trained to do. I finally applied for Disability and got it without a lawyer, in about a year's time.

I've never had a career...I've worked in any low paid job that accepts me, and until recently been in constant employment. I love the care sector, it comes natural to me but at a price....I go all out to make sure people are treated with dignity and respect and expect the same from co workers which has led to so many triggers and disputes...so not worth my mental health. I just cannot work where there is a lot of emotional stress, though physical stress I can handle better as long as my sleep and eating are stable. It's common for me to need to take time off for sickness which I've always been able to use as holidays. I normally use the excuse of having the flu or some such ailment. Emotional moments in the workplace I've covered up as " hormonal" ....oh the fibs I've told to cover my symptoms!

Yes would like to progress I my career for a sense of self worth but the thought of responsibility and deadlines and daily integration with people means stress ..... My goal is to continue with my career. At the moment I am not working it would be too much .. Overwhelming... Hopefully one day I am trying .
