I couldn't find a poll on this subject and I am curious, how many different drugs others have had to try before they found one that worked for them.

Personally I am at eight with no success yet.

Comments are appreciated for those of us new here and trying to learn as much as we can.

Thank you everyone.

I suppose it depends what you mean by 'a drug that works'. I have tried many different drugs, but I'm yet to find one that "works", with regards to my depression. I don't know if this answer could be added to your poll. But although I'm trying to find help in other ways, through therapy, exercise and healthy eating etc, I'm struggling to find a drug that helps with my PTSD symptoms. I do have sleeping tablets that "works", and I have had anti-anxiety medication, in the past, that "works" in the short term. But over-all, nothing I have tried has really helped all my PTSD symptoms.
Sorry, if I'm over-analysing your question.

I answered 5-10. It may be more, but I've sort of lost count. I'm still looking for the ONE that "works." You know, that magic happy pill that will make all of this shit go away...

I answered 2, for this time, and I'm still on both so I guess, technically, it's one..try?

Anyway, when I naively thought that a drug was supposed to fix it, nothing worked (this was about 10 years ago) more than a couple of weeks. When I attenuated a little bit, it quit 'fixing' me.

Now, since I'm still working and using the tools, the medication has just gotten the symptoms down to where I CAN use the tools with success, so for me that means it's working.

I know my count is way over ten. I tried every drug they had. My last chance at finding something is the one I'm on now. It took about a month before it actually started working and it's really helped me with getting symptoms in control so that I can do Therapy. It took over 2 years for me to find one that did this. I only take the one medication too. Mine is both an anti-anxiety/anti-depressant and helps with sleep too. To me, it's a miracle drug.. but man getting here was quite the roller coaster!

I clicked 2, but I'm seeing a new doctor soon and suspect he might switch my meds. Despite some really good therapy, my anxiety is still pretty awful at night, in the morning, and in therapy--so about half the time. I think I could make better progress in counseling if I weren't so freaked out.

I have no idea but none of them worked. I stopped taking all of my meds last summer and just going at it alone for the time being.
