After reading the thread "Reality Check Please" I followed up on a couple links from a link in Eat0492's post in that thread. The link was to NPR (National Public Radio), a site I love. I found an interesting article linked below.

Remember this is in trial, and not approved or prescribed yet for treating depression. Don't run out and get some "K" and self medicate. You may end up with more problems than you already have. It's not approved yet for doctors to prescribe so you would only be able to get street drugs. Street drugs are usually cut with who knows what which could be toxic or poisonous. Just because if you've done it before and not had any problems, doesn't mean next time will turn out the same.

I post the link for educational reasons only, for what's in the pipeline we may be able to look forward to in the future.

NPR - Could A Club Drug Offer 'Almost Immediate' Relief From Depression? <---- link.

I've found that using dextromethorphan (DXM - cough syrup, etc) in its purified form has relieved me almost entirely from my emotional dysregulation symptoms. This has some credibility in neurology because Nuedexta, a drug designed to deal with pseudo-bulbar affect (emotional instability caused by traumatic brain injury) is a combination of quinidine and dextromethorphan as well.

DXM is a dissociative anaesthetic, in the same class of drugs as ketamine and PCP. In my opinion, DXM is actually better suited for this because it's a direct entheogen - a drug designed to increase emotional fluidity. I used to use ketamine a lot back ~in the day~ and it was also very effective at relieving a lot of my agitation.

My mind was always clearer on a plateau or in a K-hole than it ever has been sober, but because they're "drugs" everybody thinks that's bad. For PTSD I would really highly recommend that there be some research done into dissociative anaesthetics because they basically allow you to feel your emotions without getting overwhelmed.

I used to do lots of self-work when I was high, because I was able to concentrate on negative emotions without letting it turn me into a monster. I think dissociative anaesthetics definitely could have a place in therapy. I know they're experimenting with using ecstasy in therapy with veterans as well, and ecstasy is another common entheogen also.
