Is this a flashback? Sudden recollection of abuser’s name causing panic.

New Here
Hi,

I'm reasonably new to all of this. I was lying down and not thinking and the name of the abuser came into my head without notice/trying and I ended up panicking and breathing fast. I had to ground myself to settle down. This is difficult and I just want understand what's going on.

Reads like an intrusive thought.

My basic shorthand…

Flashback = Relive
Memory = Remember
Intrusive thought(s) = Unwanted Thinking (including memories)
Rumination = Not being able to stop thinking

There’s no scale of bad to worse, here. Any of these can be worse, or have more profound effect, or be a bigger problem… than any other. Even on the same durn day. 😫

All of them can trigger anxiety attacks, panic attacks, flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, rumination, the whole 9.

Thanks I am surprised how my intrusive thought evoked such a reaction. It's hard to go from being ok, to not ok back to ok.
