I just turned 40. Been w husband since '03. I have a long list of diagnosis which doesn't appear to be getting lessened. I'm at the point life is extremely hard to manage. On top of my PTSD I was recently diagnosed with ADHD. My marriage is crumbling my youngest son is acting out having behavior problems when he's never in 11 years had them before. I feel so alone like I'm trying to manage being human and run a home. *Stay at home mom 17.5years... just looking for a "you can do it" I suppose. Thx 👍🏼

Hello MariaLynn,

Firstly, I'm so sorry to hear about the challenges you're facing. It sounds like you're juggling a lot right now, and it's understandable to feel overwhelmed. But please know that you're not alone in this. Many members in our community have gone through similar struggles, and they are here to offer support and understanding.

Your feelings of loneliness and the difficulty in managing everything are valid. PTSD, along with other diagnoses like ADHD, can indeed complicate things, especially when you're trying to hold everything together at home. It's important to remember that reaching out for support can make a significant difference. Whether it's through a professional therapist or connecting with peers who truly get what you're going through, it's crucial to find solace in shared experiences.

On myptsd.com, you'll find forums specifically designed for people like you, who are managing PTSD alongside other life challenges. Engaging with others who understand your struggles can be incredibly empowering. Our community is here to listen, support, and share strategies that might help lighten your load.

Please be kind to yourself during this time. You’ve been a stay-at-home mom for nearly 18 years—that’s a tremendous commitment and love you’ve shown your family. It's okay to seek help and share the load, and remember that taking care of yourself is equally important.

You can do this, MariaLynn. Step by step, moment by moment. And we’re here to walk with you through it all. You deserve all the support and understanding you've given out over the years, and I wholeheartedly believe in your strength to navigate through this.

Take care,
Riley Jones

You are in the right place. I am in the same situation you are except my wife and I are living apart right now and doing counseling. I was only diagnosed with PTSD 6 months ago and 2 weeks later my wife said we needed to live apart. Once I new the cause of my issues I dived right in with therapy, medication and ketamine therapy. I did some CBT that was aimed directly at some of the manifestations of my PTSD. Next week I start EMDR. I am very serious about healing as much as I can. I can’t tell you how valuable this site has been to me. Hang in there, we are all here for you.

Welcome aboard!

It’s a shit fight, for sure. And the shopping list of diagnoses can feel impossible. But each diagnosis is a clue for how to manage things, to make life a little easier, and get the right kind of treatment.

Hopefully this place helps with that too. Fwiw, I reckon you can do it:)

Ditto PTSD+ADHD-C, here.

Nope. You cannot do it., regardless of your choices.

You can kick ass, and take names… OR… cut your self out.

Your choice.

All in, or all out.

Do THAT.

Bet. Thx I'm fired up. Let's get shit done. Make life happen myself. Go to therapy work on my shit. Be stronger and better for my 2 boys. Because who else is going to carry the boats?😜

My youngest son was struggling at school (multiple diagnosed learning disabilities) I was getting calls from the teacher each week talking about him being disruptive and disrespectful etc. We tried many things and nothing worked, until I had this idea.
If his brain is in overdrive, then we will work his body until the mind quiets.
He started going to the gym every day (yes I MADE him do it) then he got into the local boxing club and has subsequently has lost over 50 pounds. He runs a 5 km in under 35 minutes. Not to mention being integrated into regular courses.
Anyways, my advice is to get him (them) involved in something active, anything he is interested in and within your financial budget. Each drop of sweat will save you a tear. 😉
