Losing Time But No Amnesia?

Is it possible to have lost time but not have the amnesia that usually goes with it? I can lose hours yet know what I was doing. It's just like time speeded up, i feel like 40 mins have passed but its actually been 3 hours. I think I remember what I've done in that time, I don't think I'm losing memory.

I can't decide if this is just normal level dissociation of just being on auto-pilot or evidence of another part maybe coming through.

I think dissociation does warp one's sense of time. Time is a social construct that takes kids a long time to learn. It is higher brain activity. If you have dropped into a lower brain dissociative state, for certain you will have entered into a time warp.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me, it's not the loss of time so much during the experience, although there is that, as it is the memory recall after the fact.

For instance, I can sit here all day and feel like time is going either painfully slow, or way too fast for my experience, but then recollect virtually nothing of what I did the next day or week from now. Some of that is completely normal, as nobody can be expected to remember every little thing that they've done, but summoning up the experience and recalling it is more difficult, for sure.

I know, too, when I'm wrapped up in flashbacks or moments of high anxiety, I 'zone out' so to speak, and there is considerable 'time loss' in that regard.

Hope this helps, @aria.

I agree with @Riot. The time doesn't actually GO anywhere. We have the same hours in the day that any one else does. The part where we 'lose' time is actually just losing our ability to recall and account for the time itself.

@theshadowoftheliving, I still think there is valid experiences of time slowing and going faster, but I think that is normal to some degree. That is, I think everyone gets lost in their tasks or day dreaming once in awhile. :)
