Low Sodium Blood Level Due to Psych Meds

Have any of you ever experienced this? I have ended up in the Emergency Room twice now because of this, just about passing out, flashing colors before my eyes, etc.

Finally, my MD put me on salt tablets, so I would not gain further weight because of all the salty foods I've been eating.

I have to drink special sodium/potassium/magnesium drinks, so I've been drinking ZERO, because it has no calories. Then I found out that the artificial sweetener in it may cause Dementia, which my father was diagnosed with. So this is pretty serious!

I love salty stuff and crave it. Even when I'm drinking the ZERO, I still crave 'em. I love black olives, chips, tomatoes with salt on 'em, etc. However, my ankles are getting swollen. So this is not a good sign either.

However, if I don't replenish the salt that the medications flush out of my system, I will end up in the ER again. So I have to be really careful!

Do any of you have to deal with anything like this?

Well, I went to Walgreens today and ordered something like a half dozen bottles of salt tablets. These, they told me, are the same ones that Walmart sells. I was told to take 2 per day by my Dr. I had some salt tabs for emergencies, which I have had for years. However, when an emergency arises, I forget I have them!!! Ah, the mental fog of PTSD, or my Lyme's Disease or whatever.... all I know is that these supposedly will save me from another visit to the ER, which I want to avoid if I possibly can.
