Maintenance & Upgrade

Over the next 24 - 48hrs, the forum will experience periods of downtime due to required maintenance as well as an upgrade to the latest version of software, which fixes some known bugs in this version. There are no new features, purely stability upgrade.

There is a significant amount of maintenance to be performed, and as a result some features may disappear briefly, then reappear.

I will not answer help desk questions for matters during the next 48hrs, as they are likely due to this announcement.

Thanks for the heads up! Keep reminding yourself it will be worth it in the end. I know software upgrades are a huge pain to do sometimes! Good luck...

Ok... upon further assessment, this is going to take me more likely a few days. The issue with the post reply repeating, and some other issues, is not a server issue, it is a site issue within a conflict of add ons / styling changes made. That means I am basically going to have to rebuild the entire site design from scratch, looking at each addition thoroughly for conflicts.

The other two sites are running the same software, just not as many additions, and neither site has any of the issues, hence ruling out the server as the issue.

I have a replica of this site I use for development, thus this site will remain with bugs for a few days whilst I do the rebuild on the development. Once happy, I will then simply apply it here.

Right now the forum is running a bare basics style, with only a handful of essential modifications that I know work without issue, and as stated, are essential. I believe I have identified the troubled addon, though a lot more digging is required yet. Over the next few days all the normal features will return.

The main scripting issue though is fixed, which removes the major issue from members use.

Ok... so far, so good it seems. I have had to remove some troublesome modifications which have caused conflicts, though nothing absolutely needed. I am hoping one is updated in the near future to suit the forums PHP version, being the latest due to moving to a new server, which tends to come with all the latest software versions... which is both a good and bad thing for conflicts.

Please inform me of anything out of the ordinary at present, as right now things seem stable without any javascript collisions.

Ack I noticed the chat room was down. Then I followed the post made by Froggie to this one. Now I understand. Anthony just remember pal a website is a lot like a car. Maintenance is always required no matter make or model you have. And just like cars the more fun stuff you put into a car the more stuff that can go wrong.

Ever try to put a turbo charger onto a car that didn't have one to begin with? If not let's just say it's easier to buy one with the turbo in the first place.
