Has anyone any experience of Mickel Therapy. One of my work colleagues is a Mickel therapist and says it can be helpful for anxiety and fear. All of the information I can find looks more at it's uses for M.E. I have spoken to the psychologist that I see and she doesn't think it would do me any harm to give it a go. Just wondered if anyone has a positive experience of this type of therapy.

Wow! I haven't even heard of it @suzanne1987. Thank you for bringing this up! I have found a site that looks at Mickel Therapy as well as others (left side of page). It looks like there is some value there but would be concerned as I am not certain how they say it works.

I like this quote in particular though as I feel many therapies do not address coping strategies well enough for the patient to deal with any fallout through their therapy.

“involves no medication, dietary change, supplements or psychotherapy of any sort... Treatment involves a series of one hour sessions during which you will learn why your symptoms are there and, crucially, how to work with them to regain your health.

Here is the link that I found if anyone is interested,

Again, thank you!

I just looked at the link and it does sound very interesting. I just don't get why they would say it is not a psychotherapy if it is a therapy designed to help psychological difficulties. Even talk therapy is a form of psychotherapy isn't it? Do they say this simply so the practitioners can get away with not having professional backgrounds?

I would be interested to hear how it goes.

I am not really sure how it works, but willing to give it a try to see if it can help any of my symptoms. I have been asked by my colleague to keep a diary of my symptoms and what I am doing at the time that my symptoms begin to worsen. It isnt a type of therapy that I have heard about before. It was developed by a Dr Mickel from Elgin in 1999-2000.
