Movies For Those Days We Need To Lighten Up

I've been stuck on watching a lot of animated cartoons lately because they're usually about the lightness that I've been needing. Cloudy with Meatballs was quite good, and as sad as it was to start with Up is also on the favorite list.

I also recently watched Sherlock Holmes which had a nicely light sense of humor in it.

Anyone else have idea's of some good movies to watch when we can't deal with anything profound or disturbing?

The Ugly Truth....hilariously funny about the difference between men and women. Even Anthony really likes it.

I really like watching the animated movies, Cars, Brother Bear, Up, Kung Fu Panda, etc etc... we have heaps of them. They are funny, basic and I don't need to think much about them during watching. Right up my alley when I need to chill. The 2 and a half men series and Life series are also my favourites to watch when I need to relax.

Personally I like the movie Short Circuit and Major League. although for tv series I would say AFV and Whose line is it anyways.

Yep, It's 'kids' animated films for me too. Ice Age, Wallace and Gromit, Wall E, Shrek, - that sort of thing. These films are easy viewing and don't require much concentration, they make me smile and take my mind off the crap stuff for a while.

For movies, I usually don't care for the animated stuff. But some that my daughter watches that I enjoy watching with her are The Bee Movie, all of the Ice Age movies, the Toy Story movies can have a couple of sad moments (a lot less than Up) but overall are quite pleasurable to watch. It's live action, my we also really enjoy the Alvin & The Chipmunks movie. The sequel they just did at the movies was pretty good, too.

I don't know how any of you can watch Up...it's a good movie but my daughter (who just turned 5 less than two months ago) cries through at least 1/2 of the movie. The sadness for her extends beyond the beginning. But then she really thinks about it and understands it at a level far beyond most 5-year-olds. Most kids her age think it's a movie about a house that flies with lots of balloons, a talking dog, a kid and a really cool bird. My daughter gets teary because the guy is on an adventure and Ellie isn't there to experience it with him.

TV shows...Two and a Half Men totally cracks me up. Hilarious. Most of what I watch, though, falls into the drama category.

I just pre-ordered Two and a Half Men Series 6 for my wonderful husband. It is not released in Australia until March and I'm betting by the end of March I will know every episode back the front and inside out

Years ago when I divorced my first husband, the only person who could make me laugh was Billy Connolly. Whether he was in a film or doing a show, it made no difference and he still has me crying with laughter today.

I have loads of his DVDs and can watch them time and again.

Finding a good comedy for me is tricky. I do really like Adam Sandler is some of the movies he's been in, and I can enjoy those animated movies on DVD that I sometimes watch with my children, like Kung Fu Panda and others.

As for television I enjoy and find humor in Suite Life of Zack and Cody (or something like that) and Wizards of Waverly Place, with my kids.

But, really what I enjoy is watching Stand-up Comedy. I find Brian Regan, absolutely piss my pants hilarious, and recently I've enjoyed Jim Gaffigan as well. But there are other stand-up comedians that I can watch and listen to and lighten up and enjoy. The best are the ones that perform while they're cracking their jokes. A good time.

As for other movies which lighten my mood which I enjoy, they aren't the typical lighten-1-up movie; Likely, I can be a bit weird, but oh' well enjoying myself such; I can and recently did watch the whole series of Kidnapped and relaxed and enjoyed so, what with all that acting, mystery, suspense and action. Another, good time.
