As some may know, I have been seeing a doctor for symptoms that were getting unbearable. With no diagnosis, the Dr. gave me a couple treatments of EMDR, one with the light bar, the other with the vibrating hand things. I finally got up the nerve to ask what my diagnosis was because everything was leaning towards PTSD, so per the advice I got here, I finally got up the courage to just call and ask. He told me that I have severe depression and while PTSD symptoms often mimick others, I don't have it. I am very thankful for those who told me to ask him outright, I'm not so sure where I'd be right now. Apparently, EMDR is very effective in treating severe depression, and so it has been with me. It appears mine was partially brought on by traumatic events along with alcoholism.
