I asked for special permission and I got someone on a big site, who is a moderator to put it on a large forum. It is site that has nothing to do with mental health, but they have a special section for people to talk about things. So it is near there.

I will target bigger sites that I know people who moderate/and or own the site.

Talking Facebook: if you were picking up the "share" not from gofundme directly, but instead re-sharing from a friends wall, would that make a difference for anyone?

I think that is a clever way to think it. I am actually getting people on my facebook accounts to share it for me so I can share it from them.

Okay the copying and posting and the putting it on facebook accounts that are friends/contacts of mine probably won't turn up in the counts. But I have started working my way through my contacts lists.

What I don't understand is why the number of shares shown on the go fund me page hasn't increased, despite several people saying they have shared it.

I'm pretty sure that before I shared it on FB, it said total number of shares 10, and it still says that now.

I think it probably only counts direct shares using the Facebook or Twitter buttons - if people are copy/pasting the link to share or resharing from someone else, they won't show. Maybe that is what's happening?

@cherryblossom, @digger is right about the buttons. Gofundme can only track a share thru it's own button.

I was wondering about the number also - it's gone up now. I am pretty sure an individual is only counted once - so, I've shared 4 times but only one of those is recorded.

Otherwise, a mystery to me too.

I didn't share from the page. I copied and pasted. And it has not been shared on facebook, but on other websites. I will follow up and see how many facebook shares have been done for me.

I don't come here often anymore. Dropped in today and saw this. Went to website and hit share for FB. Checked my FB page and it's on it. # of shares at the gofundme site didn't change though. Unfortunately I only have 10 or so "friends" on FB, but I tried.
