Natural Pain Remedies?

So after seeing specialist and GP, they won't give me any pain relief for abdominal/back pain as it'll ininteract with my other medications/health conditions :( So I've just got to put up with being in constant pain - it's been over 4 months now!!! I'm going out to invest in a hot water bottle hoping it'll help, but has anyone got any natural remedies that are safe to use? Thanks :)

Two suggestions
I get back and neck problems from old injuries, and they can result in me feeling severe pain in all sorts of places - abdomen, legs, arms and hands... as soon as a spinal joint goes into an awkward position it causes muscle spasms which can last for ever more (the muscles are trying to clamp the spinal joint from going even further out of alignment) and those muscle spasms put pressure on the nerves in that area, and the nerves give the indication of pain from anywhere along their length. a visit to an osteopath/chiropractor usually cures the problem straight away, although the release of lactic acid etc from relaxing the muscle that was in spasm does make me feel like crap for a few hours.

If an osteopath can't cure it (I also get phantom pains / body memories from an amputation), some simple mindfulness meditations can really ease the impact of the pain on your life, and help you not to dwell or ruminate on the pain. The audiobook in the youtube was from adaptations of mindfulness meditation done for controlling chronic pain and adapting that for use with depression - it should give you something to experiment with, and a chance to decide whether you want to pursue that route.

update:
there's the jon Kabat-Zinn minfulness for chronic pain audiobook advertized here http://www.bookdepository.com/search?searchTerm=kabat zinn, mindful&search=Find book . Book depository tends to be cheaper and a whole lot less creepy than Amazon can get, with it's data mining and privacy/boundary infringements.

Have you been evaluated by a physical therapist yet? They offer movement therapies as opposed to medication. They might be able to show you some exercises that are safe to do with rectocele.

I've seen a registrar at colorectal surgery and obv GP. She dud mention seeing someone at chronic pain clinic, but GP seems to think it's ok to be in pain allday everyday, so much so it's affecting my life... :( I was hopeful hospital would help but refused as 'we only look into thessurgical side of thing's :( Soo frustrating! Xxx

Stitching can also work. There's actually a whole website with both resources and forums about it, over at stitchlinks.com.

Basically, there are a few things going on with stitching: a) distraction and b) the repetitive motions can bring about almost a meditative mood that can help as well.

Also, are you able to walk without much pain in your abdomen? When my back was having problems (at one point I couldn't either stand for a very long time or sit for a very long time), I started walking everyday, which improved my pain immensely to the point where I rarely have any problems anymore.

I need to get back on the cross stitching for Xmas :) Walking ok but doesn't bring any relief and if do for too long = a lot of discomfort between the legs :( x
