And sneak up a few blocks and make sure you have time to go ooooooh gosh....look.....wow.....look up! Wow. And you mean we can catch a train too???????? Grand Central is a MUST SEE>

And dont forget to catch a show :)

And save receipts so you can claim your sales tax back when you are departing.

Did I mention the wholesale district? You have an ABN right? Take some cards and as a business owner (they have to check by law) you get let into..........WHOLESALE shopping! Woot woot! :D

Grand central has to be my fav spot though. Its just an incredibly beautiful AMAZING place.

NY is amazing. The whole world changes every few blocks. Oh and they DO know how to make a good hazelnut coffee :p

Whoo hoo..... holiday, destress... R&R.

We're staying in the middle of New York, Madison Avenue... wherever that is... looking over St Patricks Cathedral. So hopefully central to everything we want to see and do, or without too much of a taxi ride or walking.

It is central. The hotel is lovely. You will be close to nice walks on 5th Ave, one block over in front of St. Pat's. One of the nicest and least expensive way to see the Statue of Liberty is the Staten Island Ferry Which you can get to by subway. I like to go out just before dusk. Have dinner somewhere in St. George's, walking distance from the ferry. Then come back to Manhattan after dark. The transformation is marvelous.

You can get to the Bronx Zoo by subway too. It is considered one of the best zoos in the world. They do a lot of work with the World Wildlife Fund. Their focus is to sustain the kind of genetic variation necessary to insure that the animals they have can breed successfully, especially those that are extinct in the wild. They also lend and borrow animals from other zoos for the same purpose. Their gorilla habitat is marvelous.

Central Park is near you. It is one of Fredrick Law Olmstead's masterpieces. Hurricane Irene hit it pretty hard but I am told there has been a lot of clean up work.

You can find any kind of food from all over the world in New York and Brooklyn, the county to the east of your hotel. You will need to go by subway or taxi.

We have museums, many many museums. The Metropolitan Museum is huge and is usually quiet and cool. They have floor maps, and pamphlets about special exhibits. Many galleries for special events have earphones and a recorders so you can go through at your own pace. Central Park backs on the museum.

For smaller gallery museums there is the Frick, Museum of Modern Art, the Guigenheim Museum designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and The Holocost Museum.

The aircraft carrier Intrepid is a museum for many types of military aircraft including R71 Blackbird which you can't miss according to its size. I believe there is a submarine too ( Not For Claustrophobic folks!).

Downtown Manhattan by subway, is the Chinese district with inexpensive great food. The food near your hotel is pricey unless you find a Deli (delicatessen), a sandwich, cold salad, soup, tea (We, Americans really don't know how to do that, just a caution.) Also food from the cart vendors is safe to eat and has quite a variety, good old hot dogs with chili on top, or mustard, or ketchup, or piccadilly. You can find cart vendors with Indian kabob roles. One in Chelsea, an area of small galleries, makes fresh crepes right before our eyes.

There is a fabric and discount clothing district near Canal Street and the southern end of Manhattan. Note: most of those shops will be closed on Saturday for Jewish celebration of the Sabbath.
