Shockingly, this non-believer tends to be drawn to religious themes when it comes to music in languages I don't understand (m)any words of. Probably not surprising, considering the raw emotion usually coming with those things, a gal's not made of stone. ;)

That said, here goes a non-comprehensive list of deceptively quiet tunes.

I love Andean pipe music, often sung. I have a cassette I bought at a social justice conference in Detroit years ago, but haven't been able to find their stuff on YouTube yet. The videos above have some of the traditional songs they did, but the group that played at that conference was just incredible. Awesome voices, awesome pipes. I'm still going to look.
