I started seeing Brett Wilson in 2003, and he diagnosed me with PTSD, although we don't talk much about the trauma; after some initial groundwork about my family and major relationships, we've talked about current events in my life & he has encouraged me to see the positives in various things (I initially found this extremely annoying and thought it was pointless, but I see the benefits now). At all times, I have felt safe with him. He is reluctant to medicate, and has never prescribed any substances for me. The one prescription I have had from him was for several movies, each of which was a sensitively-told story about someone establishing their identity.

He has gently persuaded me to talk about and think about things that I really didn't want to talk about, that I really needed to talk about, and he's allowed me to stay in control of the process. (Right now, I'm seeing him fortnightly, after not seeing him at all for 2 years.)
