It doesn't have to-depending on awareness if that makes any sense. I mean, you are aware that this is occuring-it's something. PTSD means some stuff has been rewired up there. I make a hash of it when trying to explain what, the articles here do a fabulous job of xyz-ing the dynamics. If you're 'zoning out' due to disassociating, this is explained also, along with how to possibly not have this occur so much. There are a ton of threads on the latter, actually. It's sometimes very helpful to tool around those and read other's experinces-their concerns, fears, maybe solutions, ways to deal with it.
I think my point is that it's understandable to be concerned when our heads do things we can't explain. It's also understandable given out PTSD adrenaline 'poof' tendencies to perhaps think something dire. Both of these are good reasons to maybe train oneself to deliberately step back, consult trusted professionals, reserve self-judgement and try to shush that alarmist voice we all have in our heads until all the evidence is in. We're usually more ok than we think we are, that's all.
