Does anyone here know what constitutes the difference between PTSD and DID.

I score 90% on tests for PTSD so clearly that is a correct diagnoses. However I do dissociate and I am aware of "parts" of myself speaking in my head and arguing about things - causing me to behave slightly differently. However don't break with reality and noticeably switch from one personality to another. In fact, so far, the only two people in this world who can notice when I have "switched" in a sense is myself and my therapist and both of us are not necessarily right all the time. So is the experience of life as a bunch of separated parts within ones' head that are all "present" all the time dissociative Identity disorder or is it just not quite there? And how does that affect treatment? I am using a comination of CBT and other therapies to treat the PTSD. Does it even matter to identify the DID? Any opinions, advice, etc will be appreciated. I am seeing a professional - I just want to get opinions from elsewhere on people's experiences. Thanks

From my reading of the following article [DLMURL]http://www.ptsdforum.org/c/wiki/dissociative-identity-disorder/[/DLMURL]
if you are aware of different personalities, then you don't have DID, but read it for yourself and come to your own conclusions.

I'm a little confused when you say you score 90% on tests for PTSD. Did your Psychiatrist or Doctor diagnose PTSD, because there is more to PTSD then a check box of questions. Just curious. You might find the following articles of interest too

Ok thank you. I am just trying to understand what it all means. I have been diagnosed with PTSD by more than one professional. The 90% I was referring to was an online test I did - one of several - while trying to come to grips with what all these things mean that are being said. Interested in understanding the spectrum of dissociation and how people experience it. Thank you
