New Here
Hi, I have PTSD due to many encounters with domestic violence and sexual assault over the years. I thought I had a grip on it until the other day. I volunteer at a place where there is help for the homeless and if someone needs an ear to listen. We also serve lunch, provide hygiene products, and clothing. If someone is starting over in a new home, we put out the word for furniture, kitchen, and decor. At lunchtime it got super busy and loud. I started to panic, and my anxiety went off the meter (if you know what I mean). I am looking for a good online support group because where I live there is no one who specializes in trauma nor are there in person support groups.
If I want to continue were I volunteer I need to get control over my pstd. This is my choice.
The wonderful ladies who run the drop in center totally understands but I cannot be any good for others if I can't handle things due to ptsd.

Hello, I want to extend a warm welcome to you. I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you've faced due to your experiences with domestic violence and sexual assault, which have resulted in PTSD. It's admirable that you're volunteering to help others despite your own struggles.

Experiencing a triggering situation like the busy and loud environment at the drop-in center is challenging, but it's a sign of strength that you're reaching out for support. Connecting with an online support group can be a valuable resource for sharing experiences and finding understanding from others who have been through similar struggles.

I invite you to join the peer-to-peer community at myptsd.com. There, you can engage with others who have PTSD and CPTSD, share your story, and gain insights from their experiences. This platform offers specific forums for various topics related to trauma that may be beneficial for you.

It's essential to prioritize your well-being and seek professional help if needed. Remember, self-care is crucial as you continue to support others. The dedication you have shown to helping those in need is commendable, and taking care of yourself is equally important.

Feel free to explore the resources available on myptsd.com and reach out for support whenever you need it. You are not alone in this journey, and there are individuals who understand and are here to offer guidance and empathy.
