New Here
From Viet Nam, crippled, reliving every horror I experienced for 25 years every moment of my existence , drinking myself into self destruction, and finally giving up and my attempt to accomplish the final solution....naturally failing to even do that. I had enough sense to reach out, found some "understanding" thus begin my agonizing acceptance and ability to live again.

Welcome to the boards! I am happy to hear you reached out and are doing better :) Do you also know mycombatptsd.com?

Sending a warm UK welcome and a  if you accept it from one Veteran to another.

Last night on Coat to Coast AM they were talking about PTSD and vets. The guest , I am sorry I do not know his name, has a website. He calls PTSD among vets "soldier's heart" and it was the term used after the US Civil War. He takes Vietnam Vets back to Vietnam and uses a variety of old and new methods to help them. It was SO inspiring. Only Coast to Coast members (there is a small fee) can hear podcasts, but worth it, I think. I am not trying to promote George Noury, but he has some really great guests sometimes.

I haven't served, and this song is pretty much everything I know about Vietnam. I've thought about it from time to time, and I think that veterans have it harder now than at any point in the past. In previous eras, everybody knew someone who had served - they probably knew someone who had died. As wars have become smaller and less frequent, it's now possible to grow up and life a full life without knowing anyone who has taken up arms for their country. Those who served in Vietnam were especially betrayed I think - raised on stories of martial glory, and then returned to a society where many people hated them, due to the politics of the war (completely beyond their control).

There are many people here who understand you better than I ever will, and I'm confident they'll be able to help. I don't understand, but I wish you well, and I think you deserved better than what happened.
