Only 1 of me

So a quick question, I'm wondering if any of the techie people can help me. I was browsing on my ipad about the true histories behind a uk tv series 'peaky blinders'. The website linked to a page on the Daily Express website which is a British newspaper. I clicked the link and a horrible porno image popped up which completely triggered me. I went cold, had a wave of flashbacks, felt sick and ashamed etc. I managed to close it within seconds but it took me ages to calm down. I didn't know iPads could get pop ups. Now I'm panicking that every time I open a webpage on my ipad something horrid will appear. It's particularly a problem as I use my ipad for work a lot and I work in the classroom with my ipad projected onto the overhead for kids to follow. I'm catastrophising about what could happen.
Can anyone give me some pointers on how to stop this from happening and not freak out?
Needless to say, I live alone and don't look at porn sites.
Many thanks.
