Yesterday I was working in the office, surrounded by people who attempt to get to power all day without ever having real power.
And then I witnessed real power when a group of young adults walked in, all mentally challenged. They were supervised by a person who was a mental health professional.
I only saw the mental health professional briefly but in those couple of minutes I witnessed real power, quiet intense power that was nothing short of impressive. The group consisted of at least 7 people with very real mental challenges, physically able to hurt the mental health professional and it was obvious that he was aware of that.
You could see the strain in his face, the strain of a job with so much responsibility, with so much importance, the job of doing something that really mattered. But yet with a quiet strength he led these challenging young adults throughout a place that involved the general public without ever compromising his own safety or the safety of others. He only had to give very view quiet and helpful instructions and these mentally challenged adults followed him without ever raising any kind of issue, followed a person who was obviously only out for their own interest. And even though these people had tough mental health challenges they somehow sensed that those were his intentions. There was one mentally challenged patient who always displays a very intense and angry attitude, the anger is written into his face but it was handled expertly by this mental health professional.
Now THAT is real power, he had an intensively strong aura, an intensively strong brain wave.
At the same time my dysfunctional supervisor in the back office was jumping around like a monkey in a fashion show giving out orders that made absolutely no sense.
