Responses To Your Therapist That You Will Probably Never Say

To the nurse practitioner in my therapists office, regarding med checks. This is just a way to make extra money isn't it? It seems that once you have everything set, why do you still have to keep checking in by a physical visit. Couldn't I just call if I was having problems? Seriously, seems like a waste of time when everything is going fine.

Yeah I wasn't dissociating that time, just losing my focus because I'm so darn tired all the time.

Britt, I think they have to show continuing care to be able to prescribe, otherwise insurance won't cover it. It seems a waste of time to me, because I see a psychologist, my primary care, and a pain specialist. For awhile it was on a monthly basis except the Psychologist whom I saw twice a week. I'm going to stop my pain specialist since my pain is gone.

@monster1977 I think you are right. I do think it is somewhat a waste of time when I am doing well. But, after we see how this weaning down of one drug goes, I think he'll go back to every three months. I can handle that without much complaining. ;)

Yep, I have my primary care order my meds, but because I had 2 suicide attempts last year, she is afraid to prescribe now. My blood sugars raged into the 500 - 600 range about 3 weeks ago and I had to go to ER twice, because she didn't want to give insulin. I had to get the ER to get it. I was so sick I could have had a stroke or went into a coma or died. I applied for medicaid telling them how I can't afford to pay 684.00 for Cobra and 300 for all my meds and supplies. I will then have to pay cash for my therapist but it will still be cheaper than Cobra.

@monster1977 That's horrible! I'm glad you are alright! You are aren't you? Cobra is not cheap. I remember. I will not tell my therapist that her pregnancy leave is taking too long and it is going to be hard to wait until March. (at the earliest)

This is after being admitted one night at the hospital for suicidal thoughts, and not sleeping in almost a week.

P.Doc in ER: You still seem very sad and depressed.
M: What do you expect? Seriously? How is one night's sleep supposed to fix that? (just assaulted twice at the very end of Dec)

I actually said that. I was thoroughly ticked off by his comment, not to mention they had just woken me up when I was still feeling the effects of the sleep medication they gave me.

How about: "Really? You think I'm doing good? I'm progressing? Thank you. I really have been working hard. Of course, it's partly due to your good insights and suggestions too. But since I'm working so hard and doing so well could you please cut your fee in half?"

I pretty much say everything to my T. When he pushes me. I tell him to stop. I repeat as needed.

I guess I'm really lucky that I finally have reached a point where I trust my therapist enough to tell him a lot. He is showing me the way to heal and that means trusting him as much as possible. The only thing I won't tell him is that he's pretty damn hot, lol.
