Him: I believe that everyone who ends up here to my office is here for a reason.
Me: did you ever consider that the reason might be for you to learn that you can't help everybody?
(Of course, I'd never say that. Most of the time, his confidence is amazingly helpful. Just not when we get into the "here for a reason" stuff. )

T: I'm not going anywhere. I will always be here to work with you. I'm not leaving, I like my job, I will always be here to work with you.
Me: Well you could change your mind and want to move or something. (I have insecure attachment disorder as well as PTSD.
T: No, I'm here to stay. You are waiting for me to leave, but that's not happening.
T: (two months later - I'm leaving to work at the VA.
Me. You are a liar. I am mad at you, you lied to me.
T: At the time I said it, it was true.
Me: Great excuse for a lie.
T: I'm sorry
Me: No, you are not sorry.

I said it to him. Asshole. He's proud of the relationships he formed with his clients. Really? This has been the hardest thing I've had to do, I've had so many confusing emotions surrounding this and I get tossed to the side of the road.

I'm really sorry - that is just the worst. He never should have promised in the first place, I'd expect a mental health professional to know better. Anyway, I'm glad you told him how you feel about it.
