New Here
Hello, My name is Sandy, I recently found a friend after he had commited suicide. I was the first to find him and did the life signs checking. I am having alot of trouble letting go and seeing him in every tree I look at. I am normally an active outdoors person but just the thought anymore makes me extremely anxious. I am here looking for advice and tips and help for my family and myself. Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the forum! I had a similar experience in which my friend attempted suicide and I was the first to know how bad she was feeling. That's what started my PTSD. There's lots of information here and very supportive people to help you on your way to managing your symptoms, processing your trauma, and healing.

Jen.

Today is also the one week anniversary of my friends death.

Hi, Sandy. Welcome to the forum. I'm just trying to clarify and understand...do you have PTSD? Did you have PTSD from some other trauma, prior to finding your friend? Or have you only had symptoms since finding your friend a week ago?

Yeah, the symptoms need to be present for six months, or you're just going through the normal grieving process-greif mimics PTSD, I was like that when my grandad died, but I felt better after a month. You need a psychiatrist to diagnose you. Be happy if you don't have it and it turns out to just be normal grieving.

Hello Sandy ...I found my husband dead on our bedroom floor. I just want to say finding someone you love be it family or friend is indeed very traumatic. My husband had a heart attack. Suiside is especially difficult. I really feel for you and believe you belong here. Many thoughts of healing love and light to you my dear. Together we can get through the trauma. I am here for you if you need to talk, anytime.
hugs
